China-ASEAN Entrepreneurs Forum
China-ASEAN Entrepreneurs Forum is a non-governmental and regional forum organization, founded by entrepreneurs from China and ASEAN States. Its purpose is to build a high-level dialogue platform for business leaders, statesmen and academic scholars from both sides to make connections and friends, to foster new economic growth opportunities, to share business insights and wisdom, and to pursue common business interests, with the goal to achieve sustainable cooperation, innovation and economic development.
BACKGROUND
China and ASEAN States are mutually interdependent and connected by land and sea. Since the ancient time, the region has been an “artery” of trade and civilization connecting the east and west across Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. China-ASEAN region is consisted mostly of developing countries with a population of 1.9 billion. This makes it a giant economic body. In the 21st century, the economy in China-ASEAN keeps growing at high speed, becoming the most active and promising area for investors.
Currently China is ASEAN’s largest trading partner, while ASEAN ranks as China’s third biggest trading partner. The trading and investment at both sides have been expanding rapidly. Besides, the proposal on developing Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiated by China’s President Xi Jinping has been widely accepted by international community. In 2015, the China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone was upgraded. In 2016, the Commemorative Summit of the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations released The Joint Statement between ASEAN and China on Production Capacity Cooperation. All those pointed the direction of and fueled new energy to the China-ASEAN relationship.
In the process of upgrading economic integration of China-ASEAN region, a forum platform of entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs and for entrepreneurs is founded to solidify the foundation of people-to-people exchanges and to optimize the business cooperation between China and ASEAN States, thus the wellbeing of the people in the region can be improved.
